Στους «8» του European Open ο Τσιτσιπάς

Εντυπωσιακός ήταν ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς στην πρεμιέρα του στο μονό του European Open της Αμβέρσας, όπου με τον αδελφό του Πέτρο έχουν προκριθεί στα ημιτελικά των διπλών του πρώτου indoor τουρνουά που αγωνίζονται μαζί.

Ο κορυφαίος Έλληνας τενίστας, παρότι βρέθηκε να χάνει 3-1 στο πρώτο σετ, επικράτησε με 2-0 (7-5, 6-3) του 28χρονου Ολλανδού, Μπόουτικ φαν ντε Σάντσχουλπ, στο τέταρτο κατά χρονική ματς στο κεντρικό κορτ και πήρε το «εισιτήριο» για τους προημιτελικούς του τουρνουά. 

Η πρώτη συνάντηση στο Tour ανάμεσα στους δύο τενίστες εξελίχθηκε θρίαμβο του νο7 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης, ο οποίος αν και αρχικά έχασε τη συγκέντρωσή του και δέχτηκε νωρίς το μπρέικ στο σερβίς του, στη συνέχεια εξαπέλυσε φοβερή αντεπίθεση και «σπάζοντας» δύο φορές το σερβίς του αντιπάλου του έφτασε στο 1-0 (7-5).

Στο δεύτερο σετ ο Τσιτσιπάες είχε τον απόλυτο έλεγχο, ήταν σοβαρός στο παιχνίδι του κι αφού ξέφυγε με 4-1, έφτασε εύκολα στο 6-3 και στο 2-0.
