Άνετη πρόκριση για τη Σάκκαρη με το βλέμμα του πρωθυπουργικού ζεύγους!

Ούτε μία ώρα, για την ακρίβεια μόλις 58 λεπτά, χρειάστηκε η Μαρία Σάκκαρη για να μπει με το δεξί στους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες. Η Ελληνίδα πρωταθλήτρια και νούμερο 8 στην παγκόσμια κατάταξη έχασε μόλις ένα γκέιμ και επικράτησε 6-0 και 6-1 της Ντάνκα Κόβινιτς από το Μαυροβούνιο (No 558).

Έτσι πέρασε στις «32» και στον επόμενο γύρο θα αντιμετωπίσει τη νικήτρια του ζευγαριού ανάμεσα στις Εκατερίνα Αλεξαντρόβα (Ρωσία, Νο 28) και Γιούε Γιουεάν (Κίνα, Νο 40).

Σημειώνεται πως τον αγώνα της Σάκκαρη παρακολούθησαν ο πρωθυπουργός Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης και η σύζυγός του, Μαρέβα, καθώς-άλλωστε-ο γιος τους είναι σύντροφος της Ελληνίδας τενίστριας.
