Χάλκινοι Ολυμπιονίκες οι Παπακωνσταντίνου και Γκαϊδατζής!

Έγραψαν ιστορία στο Παρίσι οι Αντώνης Παπακωνσταντίνου και Πέτρος Γκαϊδατζής!

Τα ελληνικά κουπιά στο σκιφ ελαφρών βαρών ανέβηκαν στο τρίτο σκαλί του βάθρου, με τους δύο Έλληνες κωπηλάτες να πραγματοποιούν εκπληκτική κούρσα στον μεγάλο τελικό του αγωνίσματος, κατακτώντας το χάλκινο μετάλλιο με χρόνο 6:13.44!

Το ελληνικό πλήρωμα ξεκίνησε πολύ δυναμικά τον αγώνα, οδηγώντας την κούρσα στα πρώτα 500 και 1000 μέτρα της διαδρομής! Στη συνέχεια όμως, οι Ιρλανδοί ανέβηκαν και αποσπάστηκαν από τους διώκτες τους, με την Ελλάδα να δίνει μεγάλη μάχη με την Ιταλία για το ασημένιο μετάλλιο.

Μετά από μια σπουδαία μάχη που κράτησε μέχρι το τέλος, οι Παπακωνσταντίνου και Γκαϊδατζής έχασαν ουσιαστικά το ασημένιο μετάλλιο για μια... κουπιά, καθώς, βρέθηκαν πίσω από τους Ιταλούς για 11 εκατοστά!
