ΕΟΔΥ: Πρώτο κρούσμα ευλογιάς των πιθήκων στην Ελλάδα

Κρούσμα με κλινική συμπτωματολογία συμβατή με το νόσημα ευλογιάς των πιθήκων δηλώθηκε σήμερα στον ΕΟΔΥ, από το Νοσοκομείο «Ανδρέας Συγγρός». Πρόκειται για άνδρα με πρόσφατο ταξίδι στη Πορτογαλία.

 

Ο αρχικός έλεγχος που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο Κεντρικό Εργαστήριο Δημόσιας Υγείας του Οργανισμού για είδη non-variola orthopox ιών, στα οποία συγκαταλέγεται και ο ιός της ευλογίας των πιθήκων, ήταν θετικός.

 

Τα δείγματα έχουν αποσταλεί στο Εργαστήριο Μικροβιολογίας της Ιατρικής Σχολής του ΑΠΘ για τη γονιδιωματική επιβεβαίωση του ιού της ευλογιάς των πιθήκων.

 

Ο ασθενής νοσηλεύεται σε σταθερή κατάσταση.

 

Σύμφωνα με τα έως τώρα διαθέσιμα επιδημιολογικά δεδομένα ο κίνδυνος για το γενικό πληθυσμό εξακολουθεί να είναι χαμηλός, τονίζει ο ΕΟΔΥ, καθώς η νόσηση είναι συνήθως ήπια και αυτοπεριοριζόμενη και το νόσημα χαρακτηρίζεται από μικρή σχετικά μεταδοτικότητα.

 

Έως και τις 7 Ιουνίου έχουν καταγραφεί συνολικά 577 κρούσματα ευλογιάς των πιθήκων σε 18 χώρες της Ευρώπης, καθώς και 437 κρούσματα σε 10 χώρες εκτός Ευρώπης.
