Επικός Βαβρίνκα μετά από αγώνα 4.5 ωρών

Αντέχει ακόμη και στα 38 του χρόνια! Μετά από ένα επικό ματς 4.5 ωρών, ο Σταν Βαβρίνκα απέδειξε πόσο σπουδαίος τενίστας, επικρατώντας με 3-2 του Αλμπερτ Ράμος Βινιόλας, παρότι προηγήθηκε με 2-0 σετ στο ξεκίνημα!

Ο Ελβετός έδειχνε ακούραστος στο 5ο σετ και με 6-4 πανηγύρισε την πρόκρισή του στον 2ο γύρο του Ρολάν Γκαρός, έχοντας νωρίτερα απωλέσει το προβάδισμα του 7-6(5), 6-4, που πήρε από τον Βινιόλας. Ο τελευταίος έφερε το ματς στα ίσια με 6-7(2) και 1-6, αλλά στο decider σετ απέναντι στον αειθαλή «Σταν» λύγισε...

Η σημερινή ήταν η νίκη νο 45 για τον Βαβρίνκα στο Γαλλικό Όπεν επί συνόλου 61 αγώνων, αλλά και η πρώτη για τον πρώην νο3 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης στο κορυφαίο Grand Slam μετά το 2020.

Ο πρωταθλητής του 2015 στο Παρίσι ολοκλήρωσε το ματς με 14 άσους, 79 αβίαστα λάθη (4 διπλά) και 76 winners. Κατάφερε να νικήσει και τα άσχημα ποσοστά που είχε στα μπρέικ πόιντ, έχοντας μόλις 4/17!
