Η αστυνομία δεν αποκλείει το ενδεχόμενο τρομοκρατίας, για την επίθεση στο Δουβλίνο

Ο αρχηγός της αστυνομίας της Ιρλανδίας δήλωσε ότι δεν έχει αποκλείσει κανένα ενδεχόμενο, ούτε αυτό της τρομοκρατίας, όσον αφορά το κίνητρο της επίθεσης με μαχαίρι που σημειώθηκε νωρίτερα σε πλατεία του Δουβλίνου και είχε ως αποτέλεσμα να τραυματιστούν πέντε άνθρωποι, μεταξύ των οποίων και τρία παιδιά.

«Ποτέ δεν απέκλεισα κανένα πιθανό κίνητρο για αυτήν την επίθεση. Όπως είπα εξαρχής, εξετάζονται όλες οι πιθανότητες», δήλωσε ο Ντριου Χάρις. Λίγο νωρίτερα, ένας υψηλόβαθμος αστυνομικός είπε σε δημοσιογράφους ότι η αστυνομία είναι πεπεισμένη ότι το συμβάν δεν σχετιζόταν με τρομοκρατική ενέργεια.

«Δεν θα κάνω περαιτέρω εικασίες όσον αφορά το τρομοκρατικό κίνητο. Μέχρι να σιγουρευτούμε για ποιο είναι το κίνητρο (του δράστη) θα πρέπει να είμαστε ανοιχτοί σε όλα τα ενδεχόμενα», πρόσθεσε ο Χάρις.

Στο μεταξύ, επεισόδια ξέσπασαν αργά το βράδυ στο Δουβλίνο και ένα περιπολικό της αστυνομίας πυρπολήθηκε κοντά στο σημείο της επίθεσης, σύμφωνα με έναν δημοσιογράφο του Γαλλικού Πρακτορείου. Στη συνοικία αυτήν, όπου ζει μεγάλος αριθμός μεταναστών, συγκεντρώθηκαν εκατοντάδες διαδηλωτές που κρατούσαν ιρλανδικές σημαίες και πλακάτ με το σύνθημα «Οι ζωές των Ιρλανδών μετρούν».
