Μπάιντεν: «Θα μιλήσουμε» με τον Ζελένσκι για επιπλέον στρατιωτική βοήθεια

Ο Αμερικανός πρόεδρος Τζο Μπάιντεν δήλωσε σήμερα πως "θα μιλήσει" στον Ουκρανό ομόλογό του Βολοντίμιρ Ζελένσκι σχετικά με τα αιτήματα για επιπλέον στρατιωτική βοήθεια που έχει διατυπώσει ο τελευταίος.

"Θα μιλήσουμε", δήλωσε σε μια ομάδα δημοσιογράφων στον Λευκό Οίκο, απαντώντας σε ερώτηση για τα αιτήματα του Ουκρανού προέδρου, ο οποίος ζητάει κυρίως μαχητικά αεροσκάφη και πυραύλους μεγάλου βεληνεκούς για να πολεμήσει τη Ρωσία.

Χθες Δευτέρα ο Τζο Μπάιντεν απέρριψε ξερά το ενδεχόμενο να προμηθεύσει την Ουκρανία με αμερικανικά αεροσκάφη. Στην ερώτηση "Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες θα παράσχουν F-16 στην Ουκρανία;" απάντησε: "Όχι".

Οι Δυτικοί αναβάθμισαν το επίπεδο της στρατιωτικής βοήθειας που παρέχουν στην Ουκρανία, αφού η Γερμανία και οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες ανακοίνωσαν την αποστολή αρμάτων μάχης, έπειτα από δύσκολες συζητήσεις.

Ο ουκρανικός στρατός θα λάβει "120 έως 140" δυτικά άρματα μάχης, δήλωσε σήμερα ο Ουκρανός υπουργός Εξωτερικών Ντμίτρι Κουλέμπα, δίνοντας έτσι την πρώτη εκτίμηση για τον συνολικό αριθμό βαρέων τεθωρακισμένων που αναμένεται να δοθούν στην Ουκρανία.

Ο Βολοντίμιρ Ζελένσκι ζητάει ακόμη μεγαλύτερη βοήθεια με την παράδοση πυραύλων μεγάλου βεληνεκούς και μαχητικών αεροσκαφών.

Το Βερολίνο έχει ήδη απορρίψει κατηγορηματικά την ιδέα αυτή, ενώ ο Γάλλος πρόεδρος Εμανουέλ Μακρόν δήλωσε προσεκτικά πως "εξ ορισμού, τίποτα δεν αποκλείεται", διαβεβαιώνοντας πως οι Ουκρανοί δεν του έχουν υποβάλει μέχρι τώρα ένα τέτοιο αίτημα.
