WSJ: Οι ΗΠΑ σχεδιάζουν να προμηθεύσουν το Ισραήλ με «έξυπνες βόμβες» για πλήγματα χειρουργικής ακρίβειας

Η κυβέρνηση Μπάιντεν ενημέρωσε το Κογκρέσο των ΗΠΑ ότι σχεδιάζει την παράδοση στο Ισραήλ «έξυπνων βομβών», εκτιμώμενης αξίας 320 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων, όπως μεταδίδει η αμερικανική εφημερίδα Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

Σύμφωνα με το δημοσίευμα, η αμερικανική κυβέρνηση ενημέρωσε στις 31 Οκτωβρίου το Κογκρέσο σχετικά με τη σχεδιαζόμενη παράδοση βομβών τύπου SPICE (Smart, Precise Impact, Cost-Effective). Πρόκειται για βόμβες που χρησιμοποιούνται για αεροπορικά πλήγματα χειρουργικής ακρίβειας.

Η WSJ αναφέρει πως έλαβε γνώση της σχετικής αλληλογραφίας, από την οποία προκύπτει πως η θυγατρική της ισραηλινής Rafael Advanced Defence Systems στις ΗΠΑ, η Rafael USA, θα παραδώσει τις βόμβες στη μητρική εταιρία αμυντικών συστημάτων προς χρήση από τις ένοπλες δυνάμεις του Ισραήλ (IDF).

Νωρίτερα σήμερα, ο γενικός γραμματέας του ΟΗΕ Αντόνιο Γκουτέρες προειδοποίησε πως η Λωρίδα της Γάζας μετατρέπεται σε «νεκροταφείο παιδιών», υπογραμμίζοντας την ανάγκη για κατάπαυση του πυρός. Έναν μήνα μετά την έναρξη των ισραηλινών επιθέσεων στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας, έχουν σκοτωθεί περισσότεροι από 10.000 άνθρωποι, σύμφωνα με απολογισμό του υπουργείου Υγείας του ελεγχόμενου από τη Χαμάς παλαιστινιακού θύλακα.
