Στους ομίλους ο Πανιώνιος

Σπουδαία νίκη σημείωσε ο Πανιώνιος που επικάτησε με 14-11 της ουγγρικής Όρβοσι στον τελευταίο του αγώνα στον Ε΄προκριματικό Όμιλο του Euro Cup, στη Νέα Σμύρνη. Ως εκ τούτου, εξασφάλισε το «εισιτήριο» για την επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης (όπου πέρυσι είχε φτάσει μέχρι τα ημιτελικά), παίρνοντας την προνομιούχο δεύτερη θέση στην τελική βαθμολογία του ομίλου.
