Πανηγυρική πρόκριση στους ομίλους για τον Απόλλωνα

Ο Απόλλων Σμύρνης "σφράγισε" με επιβλητικό τρόπο την πρόκριση στη φάση των ομίλων του Euro Cup υδατοσφαίρισης ανδρών, συντρίβοντας 15-5 την ισπανική Σαντ Αντρέου, στο τελευταίο παιχνίδι του για την προκριματική φάση. Η "αμφίβια ταξιαρχία" κατέλαβε την προνομιούχο δεύτερη θέση του 4ου ομίλου, πίσω από την οικοδέσποινα Μλάντοστ Ζάγκρεμπ, και εξασφάλισε το εισιτήριο για τη συνέχεια της διοργάνωσης.

 

Παρά το λογικό άγχος, αφού ουσιαστικά επρόκειτο για νοκ-άουτ αναμέτρηση, το συγκρότημα του Πέταρ Ραντάνοβιτς δεν άργησε να επιβάλλει τη δεδομένη ανωτερότητά του. Μετά το αρχικό 2-2, οι "κυανόλευκοι" έκαναν ένα σερί 5-0, έκλεισαν το ημίχρονο προηγούμενοι 7-2 και συνέχισαν στον ίδιο ρυθμό, μην επιτρέποντας στους Ισπανούς να διεκδικήσουν οτιδήποτε από το παιχνίδι. Είναι χαρακτηριστικό ότι σκόραραν όλοι οι παίκτες γηπέδου του Απόλλωνα, ενώ στο τελευταίο οκτάλεπτο αγωνίστηκε και ο νεοαποκτηθείς τερματοφύλακας, Κώστας Λιμαράκης, αντικαθιστώντας τον Στέφανο Γαλανόπουλο.
