Εκτός τελικού Σάκκαρη - Τσιτσιπάς

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς και η Μαρία Σάκκαρη πάλεψαν μέχρι τέλους στο μεικτό διπλό του Indian Wells, αλλά αποκλείστηκαν από τον τελικό μετά από ένα συγκλονιστικό ματς. Το ελληνικό δίδυμο ηττήθηκε με 6-2, 4-6, 13-11 στα ημιτελικά από το Νο1 του ταμπλό, Γκαμπριέλα Νταμπρόφσκι και Λόιντ Γκλάσπουλ, που εξασφάλισε το πρώτο εισιτήριο για τον τελικό.

 

Στο πρώτο σετ κυριάρχησαν οι Νταμπρόφσκι-Γκλάσπουλ, αλλά οι Σάκκαρη-Τσιτσιπάς αντέδρασαν στο δεύτερο, κλείνοντας το με 6-4 και ισοφαρίζοντας σε 1-1. Στο super tie-break, οι Έλληνες έσβησαν τρία match-points και ισοφάρισαν σε 11-11, όμως δύο κρίσιμα λάθη στο φιλέ στέρησαν την πρόκριση.

 

Παρά τον αποκλεισμό, το ελληνικό δίδυμο έδειξε χαρακτήρα και αγωνιστική συνέπεια, αφήνοντας υπόσχεση για δυνατές εμφανίσεις στις επόμενες μεγάλες διοργανώσεις του τένις.
