Ερυθρά Θάλασσα: Γερμανική φρεγάτα παραλίγο να καταρρίψει αμερικανικό μη επανδρωμένο αεροσκάφος

Φρεγάτα του γερμανικού πολεμικού ναυτικού, η οποία συμμετέχει στη διεθνή επιχείρηση για την προστασία της ναυσιπλοΐας στην Ερυθρά Θάλασσα, παραλίγο να καταρρίψει - κατά λάθος - ένα αμερικανικό μη επανδρωμένο αεροσκάφος (UAV), αναφέρουν σήμερα γερμανικά δημοσιεύματα.

 

Το υπουργείο Άμυνας της Γερμανίας επιβεβαίωσε πως τη Δευτέρα υπήρξε περιστατικό με UAV συμμαχικής χώρας, χωρίς να την κατονομάσει.

 

Η φρεγάτα Hessen (F221) άνοιξε πυρ όταν δεν κατάφερε να αναγνωρίσει το μη επανδρωμένο αεροσκάφος, δήλωσε ο γερμανός υπουργός Άμυνας Μπόρις Πιστόριους, συμπληρώνοντας ότι το UAV «δεν χτυπήθηκε». Από το γερμανικό υπουργείο Άμυνας επισημάνθηκε πως η φρεγάτα Hessen δεν είχε ενημερωθεί από τους συμμάχους για την παρουσία μη επανδρωμένου αεροσκάφους στην περιοχή.

 

Σύμφωνα με το γερμανικό περιοδικό Der Spiegel, το UAV ήταν ένα αμερικανικό MQ-9 Reaper. Στο δημοσίευμα υπογραμμίζεται πως το περιστατικό καταδεικνύει την ανάγκη να υπάρξει καλύτερος συντονισμός μεταξύ των δυνάμεων που συμμετέχουν στην αποστολή «Ασπίδες» στην Ερυθρά Θάλασσα.
