Προκρίθηκε η Σάκκαρη

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη στην πρώτη εμφάνιση στην καριέρα της στο Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open WTA 250 έκανε το καθήκον της και με 2-0 επί της Πολίνα Κουντερμέτοβα (6-0, 7-6) πήρε το «εισιτήριο» για τον επόμενο γύρο του τουρνουά WTA 250.

 

Μπροστά στο ελληνικό κοινό που γέμισε σχεδόν το κλειστό του Sports Center, η Ελληνίδα πρωταθλήτρια έπαιξε αρκετά καλό τένις, ιδιαίτερα στο πρώτο σετ, το οποίο κέρδισε άνετα με 6-0. Στο δεύτερο η Ουζμπέκα αντίπαλός της (νο 109 στον κόσμο) έβγαλε αντίδραση, «στρίμωξε» το νο37 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης και κατάφερε να οδηγήσει το σετ στο τάι μπρέικ.

 

Εκεί η 30χρονη Ελληνίδα τενίστρια έπαιξε εξαιρετικό τένις και με 7-1 games έκανε το 2-0, γνωρίζοντας την αποθέωση από το κοινό, μετά από μία ώρα και 24 λεπτά αγώνα.

 

Στον επόμενο γύρο η Σάκκαρη θα αντιμετωπίσει είτε την Βρετανίδα Χάριετ Νταρτ, είτε την Γερμανίδα qualifier, Μίνα Χότζιτς.
